In January, SFMTA installed ‘transit only’ lanes on 4th St at the bridge, and prohibited left turns from 4th St onto Berry.

Results from the preliminary evaluation are in, and these changes have been effective and no further modifications in the area are needed.

  • Delays to transit decreased by 63% at 4th & Berry
  • T Third St. trains are 2.5 times more likely to travel through the intersection without having to stop for a red light; and when they do have to stop, the wait time is 70% less.
  • Overall T Third trains have been delayed by congestion less than 1% of the time.
